About Josh
Josh Lloyd grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi, and later settled into farm life in the Larue–Bonnie Chapel community of Vancleave. He served as a firefighter with the Biloxi and Ocean Springs Fire Departments for ten years, risking his life to save others.
In 1991, Josh was the firefighter who entered a burning car after it plunged from the Ocean Springs Bridge, injuring his back in the process. Later, during another fire, he fell onto his air pack, breaking his back in multiple places — injuries that left him permanently disabled at only 29 years old.
Even while living with chronic pain, Josh has always been the first to lend a hand, never asking for help but always giving it.
Today, Josh faces his greatest challenge. He has been diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer that has spread to his liver and other areas, and he will soon begin treatment. His spirit is strong, but cancer treatments are costly, and insurance only covers a small portion.
