bloom effect is a shoegaze/dream-pop trio based in Vancouver, BC. Formed by Argentine-born vocalist/bassist Jula Lafit, UK-born guitarist Craig Weighman and drummer Tom Rappa, the band crafts ethereal yet powerful soundscapes influenced by Cocteau Twins and Alvvays. Known for their bilingual lyrics and immersive live sets, the band has performed at festivals including JUNOFest, Westward Music Festival, Music Waste, Desert Daze North and opened for international acts Zoon and Ladytron. Debut live session Once More with Feeling, recorded at Little Sound Studios, showcased their compelling performance style and gained over 2.7K views on release. In early 2025, they released portents—a four-song EP via Shore Dive Records—described as a portal into their layered, emotionally charged sound. The release caught the attention of tastemakers, with features on Obscure Sounds, and airplay on KEXP, DKFM Shoegaze Radio, and CiTR. This summer, they return with oscilón, a six-song EP released by cult Vancouver label Kingfisher Bluez—soon to be available both digitally and on vinyl.

A powerhouse of ’90s-tinged indie rock and alt-pop, Loviet (pronounced Soviet with an L) has established herself as one of Canada’s brightest up-and-coming artists to watch. Praised for her “signature, shimmery hooks with emotionally honest lyrics” (Notion) and “addictive, retro pop-rock...a polished, highly danceable project” (CBC) Loviet has made a name for herself and her band supporting critically acclaimed artists The Beaches, Giant Rooks and Jesse Jo Stark and performing at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Summerfest and Ottawa Bluesfest “delivering a show that is fit for an arena" (Megan LaPierre, Exclaim! Magazine). She’s reaching even greater heights on her EP The Nighttime Is All In The Timing, produced by Cacie Dalager and Bradley Hale of American indie-rock band Now, Now. This five-track offering and winner of the Music Nova Scotia Rock Recording of the Year is sonically expansive and emotionally charged, described by Loviet as “...lots of guitars, energy, power, and mess.” From the unabating urgency of her boldly breathtaking anthem “Broken Lips” to the intimate, heated unpacking of trauma on “Wide Eyes” (billed as “a love letter with teeth”) to the unapologetic roar of “Star Treatment,” The Nighttime Is All In The Timing finds Loviet soundtracking moments of reckoning and raw reflection through catchy and cathartic upheavals that hit hard and leave a lasting mark. With new music set for release in 2025, Loviet is further bridging the gap between her praised live shows and recorded catalog, featuring a more rock driven, unblushing portrayal than ever before.

Emerging from a desire to reconnect with the heavier sounds of their youth, St. Catharines' Deer Fang — vocalist/bassist Lauren Leprich, and guitarist Jay Edonel — craft a distinctive sound that melds grunge, shoegaze, punk, and alternative rock influences, evoking a sense of nostalgia while still remaining relevant. After writing and recording a plethora of tunes, produced by Scotty Komer (Protest the Hero, Silverstein, Boys Night Out) and mastered by Mike Kalajian (Drug Church, NewFound Glory, Thrice), Deer Fang enlisted good friends and extreme talents Eric Rudling and Cody Linthicum to help fill out the live show lineup, and the pieces fell into place. Deer Fang songwriting reflects personal experiences, and they stand firmly behind their beliefs, promoting awareness, sensitivity, and inclusivity for all.
