Join us at Grimsby Town Hall on Friday 19th September and Saturday 20th September (10am – 4pm) for a free exhibition on the lost buildings of Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Following on from our “Lost Landmarks” exhibition, which was staged in February, this display will include more photographs, documents and artefacts relating to some of the local buildings and structures that are sadly no longer with us.
Included in the display will be documents and photographs relating to well-known buildings such as the Corn Exchange, the Palace Theatre, the Royal Dock Hotel, and Cleethorpes Bathing Pool. The exhibition will also feature some less familiar landmarks, such as Alfred Terrace, the Nurses’ Home in West Marsh, and the Warwick Tower in Cleethorpes.
There will also be a chance to see evocative images of some of our lost public houses, including the Gloucester Arms, the Sheffield Arms, and the Cross Keys in Cleethorpes. Finally, some of the area’s lost churches and chapels will also feature prominently, including the Baptist Tabernacle, St Stephen’s Church, St Paul’s Church (West Marsh), and Trinity Methodist Church.
