We all learn important things to do early on in life. Whether it’s learning how to count, or learning how to talk, we all have to start with the basics. And when it's the basics of talking, we need the alphabet. The alphabet forms every single word known to us. With that being said, this year's annual DAVe 8th Annual Triptych show is as simple as "ABC." That's right - ABC. We want to know how you take these 3 fundamental letters and create art to showcase them. Is it 3 varied animals that begin with the letters A, B & C? Or possibly 3 types of trees? Maybe it's 3 concepts of a certain memory. Or a particular mood. Whatever you choose to create, is up to you. We just want to see what you come up with.
This year's Triptych show will be a little different from past shows. There will only be allowed a total of 3 submissions (which is required) per artist. One for each category of A, B, C. Each artist must submit to all 3 categories. In the past, we allowed up to 3 submissions per artist, per category. This year we are making things simpler & more concise.
In addition to this, you must be a current DAVe member by midnight, October 2nd.

Each set of submissions has an entry fee of $15. This is the same as before, but since each artist has to submit to all 3 categories, it still is a $5/piece, per category, fee. All of the fees will go towards the awards, which are as follows. Each category winner will receive $100. The overall concept winner will receive $250. In theory, one artist can possibly walk away with $550 in rewards!
Our judge this year is none other than the founder of DAVe, Mr. Paul Benninghoff (known to some as Joseph Anthony Coyle). Being given that Paul is well-versed in and with this group, we only thought it'd be appropriate to have him as our Triptych judge.
Along with your submissions, we are asking each artist for a few sentences which explain your concept, and how it fits this show.
With that said, here are the dates to remember -
•All submissions are due by midnight, Friday, November 7th.
•Acceptance emails will be sent out on Tuesday, November 11th.
•Dropoff of art will be at Wildrose Brewery in Griffith, between November 15th & 20st, during the brewery's normal business hours. ALL accepted works are to be dropped off ONLY in this timeframe.
•Installation will take place on Friday, November 21st, at 11 a.m.
•Opening will be on Saturday, November 22nd, from 7 to 10 p.m., with awards being given out at 7:30.
All works must be correctly wired (preferably 1/3 the way down from the top of the artwork) and labeled (artist last name, title AND category). Each submitted photo is to be titled - first initial.last name.title.category. For example, "J.Smith.Apple.A."
