Join us in Greenup County for the marking of the Greenup Revolt of 1829 and Isaac Downey's Escape from Globe Furnace!
The event will kick off at the marker site for the Revolt, which is located at the former Lynn Elementary School, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Please note parking for the ceremony will be available at the
former Lynn Elementary School on Coal Branch Road (KY 827). The location is just before Coal Branch intersects with KY 7.
The second dedication ceremony will begin at 12 noon, at nearby Bennetts Mill Covered Bridge, which is the location of the escape of Isaac Downey, who fled across the Ohio River in search of his freedom.
Please note Bennett’s Mill Covered Bridge, which will be closed to traffic during the event. Parking will be on the east side of Tygarts Creek on Brown Cover Bridge Road. Access will be from the AA Highway (KY 10) via East Tygarts Creek Road.
