An OPEN Chess Tournament
Greensboro 5-0-5 Open
Time control : G/50 ; d5 ( 50 minutes with a 5 second delay on clocks used ) . $25 entry fee (cash, on site)
United States Chess Federation - Rated ( Swiss Scoring System . US Chess Regular ( numerical ) rating used for Section eligibility , pairings , and all prizes ) .
Cash Prizes in Multiple ( 3 or more ) playing sections , cash prizes to be awarded in each Section ; based on Total number of tournament participants . Prize Fund: 70% of Tournament Entry Fees - Guaranteed . 1st - 2nd - 3rd place cash prizes , includes any shared prizes to be awarded in each Section . Scoring for each round : Win - 1 pt , Draw - 1/2 pt , Loss - 0 pt
* Game results will be dual-rated with USCF ( Regular and Quick ratings ) after tournament completion . *
Restrooms, vending machines, water and water bottle fountains available within Center .
Pre-tournament Announcement will be made prior to Rd. 1 --- Player phones within Tournament room must be turned off and placed face-down , if next to board , during each Round . Players may bring boards/pieces/clocks of their choice to use during any Round of the Tournament . Paper scoresheets will be provided at Boards , players strongly encouraged to bring pens/pencils to this event for purposes of writing/notating all moves during each game .

One-day tournament conducted on Saturday
1st Round 9:40 a.m.
2nd Round 12:15 p.m.
3rd Round 2:30 p.m.
Registration for 1st Round 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. SHARP, morning of tournament ; otherwise mandatory 1/2 pt. BYE. Optional half point bye ( 1/2 pt. ) allowed for any round, if declared before Round 2 .
Indoor gym and Lobby area available from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

How :
U.S. Chess membership required to participate with $25 cash entry fee per player ( club encourages payment with smaller bills ; exact entry fee, where possible, if paying on site for Prize Fund purposes )
On site U.S. Chess registration assistance available and Scholastic/Adult membership renewal available on site , before start of Rd.1 .
Masters play for free ( $25 entry fee amount to be deducted from prize earned in Top Section ) .
