Tim Peters, General Manager of Sheraton Greensboro
Economic Impact, “Heads on Beds”
Tim graduated from the College of Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a minor in History. He has been married for 41 years to a teacher, as he wanted to find a way to use his degree (only to be schooled by his wife Kay throughout their marriage!) however once he saw a pay scale for teachers, he was inspired to find a career that would help him raise a family.
Raised in Charleston, where he believed Hospitality and Tourism originated, Tim found a natural fit in the hotel industry. He began his career with Sheraton ITT Hotels in Charleston through a specialized management training program, gaining experience across every hotel department. After the company’s sale to Starwood, he advanced to department manager roles before becoming a General Manager in 1989. In his second year as GM, he earned the General Manager of the Year award from Beacon Hospitality, a company managing over 40 hotels.
With over 45 years’ experience in the Hospitality industry, Tim has become a leading hotel-turnaround specialist, transforming underperforming properties into high-performing assets. Since March 2021, he has served as General Manager of the Sheraton Greensboro and Koury Convention Center, leveraging his extensive experience to drive success.
