Writers Read is a monthly opportunity for an audience to come and listen to local writers in an intimate environment. Each second Wednesday of the month, three writers read from their work, followed by a discussion facilitated by Lindy Whiton, designer of Writers Read. These discussions have been eye opening, touching, and inspiring. Audiences have left the venue ready to write.
Eric Petersen's poetry has served as both a coping mechanism and a passion for him. His first poetry collection Brutal Rhymes for Brutal Times is a compilation of the author’s life-long love affair with writing. Many of these poems are about, or even written during, particularly brutal times in his life. He says: “Some of these poems are brutally sad. Some are brutally funny. Some are brutally honest. They are all brutal. Even if I write a bad poem, it won’t just be bad — it’ll be brutally bad.” He released a second collection of poetry Memos from the Milieu with Metaphysical Fox Press is 2025.
Michael McAfee lives in Millis, MA, and works in the software industry. He's been writing poetry since he was five years old, but only started doing open mics since he began work on his collection, Tarot Poems. His trick of having audience members pick poems by drawing from a Tarot deck has generated a following. He's also involved in the local audio theater community, particularly with the Post Meridian Radio Players. He enjoys talking about his own projects and listening to others about theirs.
Tom Skarzynski has been writing for over half a century. His work has appeared in The Springfield Journal, and several anthologies. He recently published his first novella, Journey to Druidwood, and his first poetry book, Echoes of Reflections.
