About the Workshop
Join us for a magical two-day adventure in wet felting! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to use resists to shape and sculpt wool into a one-of-a-kind witch hat — perfect for Halloween or anytime you want to add a little whimsy to your wardrobe.
On the first Saturday, we’ll build the structure of the hat using colorful wool and traditional felting techniques. After letting the hats dry during the week, we’ll regroup on the second Saturday to shape, size, and finish your creations. You’ll leave with a wearable, spellbinding piece of art — and the skills to make more on your own!
Wet felting is one of the oldest known textile arts which is labor intensive and rewarding. You will leave with your very own piece of history in the shape of a witch’s hat just in time for the Halloween season
Instructor Bio
Celeste Whitlow has her hands in just about every corner of the fiber arts world—literally. From washing raw fleece straight off the sheep to spinning, weaving, felting, and stitching it into something magical, she loves working with fiber from start to finish. Celeste has a special fondness for wet felting, turning piles of loose wool into sculptural, wearable pieces full of character (and sometimes a little whimsy). Her workshops are relaxed, hands-on, and perfect for anyone who wants to play with wool, water, and imagination—this time, to conjure up the perfect witch’s hat.
Additional Information
This is a two day workshop, each day we will break at noon for a 1 hour lunch. Attendees must bring two towels.
Wet felting involves working with warm water, soap, and a lot of friction — think of it like washing dishes for several hours straight. The water will be quite hot at times to help the felting process, so participants with sensitive skin may want to bring a pair of rubber or waterproof gloves for comfort.
