Geye’s latest novel explores the tension between fate and self-determination, asking: is the future something we’re handed, or something we shape?

About the Book
In 1910, Willa Sauer arrives at a remote lighthouse on Lake Superior, trapped in an arranged marriage with the prideful keeper, Theodulf. As their relationship grows strained, Willa finds solace in the stars and the approaching Halley’s Comet—until unexpected visitors stir a glimmer of hope.

Set against a brooding and beautiful landscape, A Lesser Light is a story about industry and calamity, science versus superstition, inner desire countered with societal expectations—and the consequences when these forces collide in the wilderness of rapid social change.

About the Author
Peter Geye is the award-winning author of Safe from the Sea, The Lighthouse Road, Wintering, Northernmost, and The Ski Jumpers (Minnesota, 2022). He lives in Minneapolis with his family.
