Each year, BAMVS (Bay Area Managers of Volunteer Services) sets aside a day to step away from our regular roles and roll up our sleeves together. Through BAMVS Serves, we model what we advocate for daily: the power of service in building stronger, more connected communities.
This year, we're partnering with Brown County Volunteer Services for a meaningful, hands-on landscaping project to help beautify the Family Center—a vital space supporting local families. The Family Center was established in 2019 when a Leadership Green Bay group took the initiative to find a more homelike space for children to visit with their parents when in out of home care. Given the high number of CPS cases in Brown County, the Center has already been outgrown and is currently under construction for an expansion. Nevertheless, the "main" part of the building will remain and is in need of some TLC to make it more inviting for those utilizing the space.
🗓️ Date: Monday, July 21st
🕘 Time: 1:00-3:00pm
📍 Location: Family Center – 1076 St. Agnes Dr. Please plan to park on the street, the parking lot is reserved for families visiting.
🌿 What to Expect: Outdoor landscaping work—planting, mulching, and beautifying the grounds to create a more welcoming space for the families who visit. Attendees should plan on wearing comfortable clothes, bringing any gardening supplies that may be useful (gloves, spades, rakes, shears, watering cans etc.). We would also encourage you to bring bottled water to stay hydrated.
All volunteer engagement professionals are welcome to join us—whether you’ve attended a BAMVS meeting before or this would be your first connection. This is a great opportunity to give back, socialize with peers, and re-energize your commitment to service.
☕ Optional Social Gathering: After the project, participants can decide together whether they'd like to head to a nearby restaurant to continue conversations.
