The settings of the poems in A Square Peg in a Round World circumnavigate the globe from Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, and the USA, returning the reader to an English garden wiser to the many ways humankind has alienated itself from Nature or others, whether for reasons of poverty, ignorance, and / or avarice. It touches on the separation man has felt from nature.
This collection of formal and free verse also explores personal feelings of alienation or being out-of-place but concludes with an optimistic message.
The first section reflects on a traveller’s experiences, the second echoes other voices and in the third, the sometimes superior relation of man to the natural world. Finally, the traveller returns home to find their place in the world.
Clifford’s launch will feature two guest speakers and there will be a Q&A at the end of the event so that you can find out more about Clifford’s travels.
