What is Pilates?
Pilates is a mindful movement method developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s. It focuses on building core strength, improving posture, and enhancing overall mobility through precise, controlled movements.
In Mat Pilates, exercises are performed on a mat from a variety of aligned positions. With the core engaged and stabilised, you’ll move through small, deliberate repetitions using your own body weight to develop strength, endurance, and flexibility. Breath, concentration, and body awareness are key elements that guide each movement with control and flow.
Using just a mat and small props such as resistance bands, Pilates balls, foam rollers, and Pilates circles, this method is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It’s a low-impact but highly effective way to strengthen your body and move with more ease in daily life.
