2026 Bushytail Challenge Rules
1. Two person teams with State of Michigan small game licenses - THIS is YOUR responsibility to obtain PRIOR to event. All State of Michigan laws pertaining to Small Game Hunting MUST be followed.
2. Must use .22 or .17 caliber rimfire or air rifle only (No other firearms are allowed for the hunt)
3. Dogs are permitted but must stay out of the clubhouse.
4. Teams can go hunting anywhere legally allowed but NO hunting will be allowed on GLSC property during this event (Including Club Members)
5. Registration can be done two ways: (Online prior to the start of the event via this page) (In-Person at GLSC from 7 - 9 am on the day of the event, March 21st).
6. If registering online prior to March 21st at 8am, check-in ISN'T REQUIRED in the morning. (But you Must return for weigh-in)!
7. Weigh-in begins at 1 pm. Teams MUST be checked in by 3:00 PM for weigh-in at the club. Squirrels should not be gutted or skinned prior to weighing.
8. Winners will be announced as soon as all weighing has concluded.
9. A maximum of 10 squirrels (5 per team member) is the limit per the State of Michigan and will be the limit for this event.
10. The heaviest total weight overall will be the winning team.
11. There is also an optional buy-in of $5 for the heaviest squirrel per team.
12. In the case of a tie, heaviest squirrel breaks tie.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 teams and the heaviest Squirrel winner. We will have food for purchase at the time of weigh in, cash or card will be accepted (card will have service charge). 50/50 Raffle tickets available for purchase at the clubhouse throughout the day. 50/50 tickets will cost $1 for one or $5 for 6.
