Join us for a book exchange hosted at Speciation Ales. Bring whatever you’re currently reading along with however many books you’d like to find a new home for, and adopt some new ones.
Last time, we got a few complaints that some people didn’t get any good books, so we’re going to do something about that. There will be six different colors of tickets and everyone will draw one from two groups of 3 colors. We’ll do this in two rounds.
In the first round, everyone will draw at random to see who goes first, second, and third in choosing one first book. We’ll then draw to determine that order.
In the second round, we’ll draw again for a new order, and this time each person will get to choose two books.
From there, everyone can browse the rest and we’ll donate whatever is left over.
This way, the order changes randomly between rounds, and everyone should end up with at least one book they’re excited about.
What is Silent Book Club? Founded in 2012, SBC is an international movement with over 2,000 chapters worldwide. Also known as the introvert’s happy hour, these twice monthly meet ups at venues around the greater Grand Rapids area allow you to get out with whatever you’re reading, discuss books with other like-minded people, or simply keep to yourself and enjoy the company of others.
We will break at 2:00 pm from silent reading to start the exchange and have a discussion about what we’re reading. In the spirit of keeping this a true ‘introvert’s happy hour,’ participation is optional.
The fun starts at 1:00 and ends at 4:00 pm. While SBC meets are free to attend, please make an effort to support any local business opening their space up to us so we can convene. See you then!
