Meijer is working with Plaster Creek Stewards to reset their parking lot islands with deeply rooted native plants! These are two very large islands and we need some help to get this all done! This is a great time of year to plant native plants with the returning rains needed to get roots established.
Date & time: Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct 21 and 22, 9am-12pm and 12:30-3:30 on both days.
This is drop-in, open-house style, so people don't need to stay for the whole volunteering time slot.
Please also make a note that if we finish before 3:30pm, we will just be done for the day. No promises that we will be there the entire day.
Location: Meijer parking lot at 28th & Kalamazoo (1540 28th Street SE)
What to bring: Wear clothes/shoes that can get dirty; bring water/snacks as needed. PCS will provide tools.
What to expect: Spreading soil and mulch, planting trees, and planting native plants. Expect to get a good workout moving mulch and planting plants!
Also, we're working in a parking lot, and it won't be closed down for us, so there will be cars to be aware of for safety concerns.
Who is welcome to attend: Everyone! Spread the word and feel free to bring friends. Kids are welcome.
Signup Genius if you would like to commit to a day and time block, but spontaneity is welcome!
