Marking Time - Krista Reuter & Theresa Gray ~ @ The Grey Rabbit

Marking Time explores the work of 2 artists: Krista Reuter and Theresa Gray.

Both utilize a meditative approach to their work - but the results from each artist is varied and enlightening.

Theresa Gray depicts her moments in time by using gestural lines to reflect the natural rhythms of the landscape. She explores this cadence through repetition - using thick and thin lines in a sort of dance that further emphasizes the energy of a landscape that is growing, shifting and changing as she makes each mark.

Repetition is also a key element in the work of Krista Reuter. She explores the ‘internal landscape’. Using a methodical process, she expresses the passing of time by repeating multiple layers of torn paper (set on its edge to give depth and dimension to the work). The repetition creates movement - as if she too is dancing to the rhythms of time. Also included are a selection of her drawings. Measurements and geometric shapes on vintage ledger pages that reference the passing of time; as if honoring ancient astronomy, early modes of navigation, and the influences of sacred geometry.

For each artist, the work is patient and mesmerizing.

The repetition is devotional.

The process is healing.
