All Bird Nerds Welcome! Not just girls! :)
Build-a-Beak: Bird Adaptations in Action!
We will start out with some hands-on exploration of how different beaks work, and then they will engineer their own bird beak!
Discover how Minnesota’s birds have adapted to thrive in a variety of habitats! In this hands-on program, families will explore how beak shapes are specialized for different foods and environments.
Then, put your engineering skills to the test by designing and building your own model bird beak.
You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how form and function work together in nature—and your very own beak creation to take home!
We will have materials for 20 active builders. There will be a presentation to begin with, along with specimens for everyone to see. Each builder will need to have their parent/guardians with them.
The building activity is geared to 6 - 12 year olds (though even adults could do this and have fun with it!). But younger siblings may attend with a caregiver.
