Join us at A Pleasant Dog (1430 Knapp St NE) for a gathering of crafts, laughs(and/or tears), and fighting the gestapo!
Is watching these rapidly escalating atrocities unfolding day by day chipping away at your hope for a better future? You are not alone! We are living in unprecedented times and although it can be hard to know what to do or where to turn, we all know that we must stand together and fight back. Even though there are countless ways that we all can and should be fighting against this authoritarian regime, among the most crucial are connecting with your community and raising money to directly support those on the front lines, together we can do both! Crafting has been shown to help regulate our nervous systems, so what better way to connect with our community than to collectively regulate our nervous systems while standing up against the oppressive systems that surround us.
Crafting supplies for creating keychains, pipe-cleaner pups, plus varying levels of knitting and crochet creations will be provided, but don’t be afraid to get even more creative; along with snacks and soft drinks. All crafts created using APD materials will then be listed on our Etsy shop, once sold: 100% of the proceeds will be donated to GR Rapid Response Team and Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee. Don’t worry if you fall in love with your craft, you may purchase it on-site to contribute to our donation pool. You are also welcome to work on a craft with any of your own materials, which you are obviously welcome to take home with you, but you may also donate your crafted items to the cause if you choose!
We will also have our beloved Al(Allison), who is a therapist and licensed social worker with years of experience working with kids and families recovering from traumatic events, present for crafting days; to help us work through the emotions that arise when dealing with so much collective trauma. Although, if you’d prefer to craft without the pressure of participating in conversation, we will still greatly appreciate your company!
RSVPing via Facebook invite or an email to
cGFya2VyIHwgYXBsZWFzYW50ZG9nICEgY29t is heavily encouraged to ensure we have sufficient space and materials, but all (except ICE) are welcome to join us, regardless of an RSVP.
