Rooted in Resilience: Lessons from Redwoods & Junipers
Presented by Briana "B" Board and Kelsey Wells from
EUREKA! Science Museum
Join us for an engaging evening exploring the remarkable adaptations of these two species thriving in vastly different environments, and how experiential education with the EUREKA! Environmental Institute continues to foster environmental stewardship and positive change in our community.
Briana "B" Board and Kelsey Wells both work for the EUREKA! Science Museum, and are motivated by EUREKA!'s mission to inspire a passion and respect for math and
science in our communities.
B's title of Volunteer Coordinator at EUREKA! hardly does justice to her involvement leading Pre-K family programs, travelling with active adults over 55, and working with volunteers to maintain exhibits. Prior to joining EUREKA!, Briana taught outdoor education in Montana and at the Colorado National Monument. She also taught 9th and 10th grade science at Juniper Ridge Community School in Grand Junction. Her diverse experiences have given her a deep knowledge of the natural world—something that continues to inspire both her colleagues and her students.
Kelsey serves as the Co-Director of Education at EUREKA! During the summer months, she leads expeditionary learning experiences for students in grades K–12, and throughout the school year she supports math and science enrichment and engagement across District 51 and beyond. With a background in bilingual education and outdoor leadership, Kelsey has taught in a wide range of educational settings, including Oregon, Utah, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and here in the Grand Valley.
