This 1987 comedy film about a high-strung advertising executive, Neal Page (Steve Martin), who is forced to travel home to Chicago for Thanksgiving with a cheerful but overbearing shower-curtain-ring salesman, Del Griffith (John Candy). Their journey becomes a series of disastrous and hilarious mishaps involving planes, trains, and rental cars as they are repeatedly delayed by weather and bad luck. The film is a classic holiday comedy known for its blend of humor and heart, which develops as Neal's initial annoyance with Del turns into a genuine, albeit rocky, friendship.
