An interactive creative workshop exploring Australian Aboriginal storytelling — from rock art and songlines to digital art, animation and comics.
How do ancient stories continue to live in contemporary forms?
In this interactive workshop, Balanggara and Yolngu artist Molly Hunt explores the evolution of storytelling across time — from oral tradition, rock art, and songlines to canvas, digital art, animation, and comics.
Participants will examine how storytelling adapts to new materials and technologies while carrying forward knowledge, memory, and connection to place. Through hands-on group activities, participants will experiment with non-linear storytelling, map stories connected to land and reimagine an old narrative in a contemporary medium.
The workshop highlights how story is not static but living — shifting form while holding cultural responsibility and identity at its core.
Perfect for artists, writers, illustrators, comic artists, educators, and anyone curious about how traditional knowledge can inspire modern visual storytelling. You don’t have to be a professional to participate, all who are interested are welcome.
WORKSHOP FACILITATOR
Molly Hunt, Australia, is a digital artist, animator and muralist. She is one of the participating artists in our exhibition Existens, which opens in full on 28 February. Her comic-style artwork "Darrpa – King Brown" is featured in the exhibition.
PRICE: 100 kr . If you have a museum annual pass, the fee is 80 kr.
