The group has its roots in Gnawa music from Morocco and hunter's music from Mali. With one foot in these traditions and the other in more contemporary music, the band creates a truly unique sound.

Bambaraoui seeks and finds the roots of Gnawa in the music of the Bambara hunters.
The guembri and the hunter's harp meet in many ways that feel completely natural.
Bambaraoui performs both entirely traditional songs from the Gnawa and hunter music repertoires, most lying at the intersection of the two, but with new arrangements.
The music also ventures into blues, funk, and modern dance music styles that, in one way or another, have their origins in West Africa.
Bambaraoui is a journey into the past, the present, and into the future.
