About the event

The Inspiration Series_ Contemplative Hike_ Tuckerman Ravine
In the tradition of John Muir, the father of our National Parks we will embark on an adventure with a long stop at our destination to reflect and record what we see.

If you write or journal- I will offer a writing prompt
If you sketch, draw or paint- I will suggest a perspective
If you take photographs - I will propose a viewpoint

______________________________________________________________
This series is dedicated to the principle of engaging nature and capturing details in a creative medium that suits us. There will be ample time to meditate, reflect and share openly too. After our experience we can share developed works (ie. Poems, drawings, photos) through an e mail chain for those interested.

I will provide three prompts to stimulate ideas for the contemplative aspects of the hike with details and samples : Story Telling- Memorializing- Immersion/ Mindfulness

Our Destination: Tuckerman Ravine "Lunch Rocks"F

___________________________________________________________

Tuckerman’s Ravine has inspired artistic adventurers for over 150 years. It is a glacial cirque on Mount Washington. It offers epic views that can be breathtakingly captured in writings, drawings and photographs.

The spot we will visit is the junction of Tuckerman Ravine Trail and Alpine Garden Trail. It provides a stunning view of the headwall world re-known for skiing. There is a long and storied skiing and hiking history there. The spot is also a perfect place to rest and reflect.

Important: If you do not have or wish to engage in a specific creative activity you are warmly welcome to join and take in this unique and restorative experience!

We start at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, gradually climbing to Hermit Lake Shelter, then progress through a steep section until we reach the base of the ravine.

Route: 2.4 miles from parking lot to Hermit Lake followed by a traverse to the base of the ravine. The 1,800 feet elevation gain to Hermit Lake will be followed by the steep section of .7 miles which will add 700 feet of elevation gain.

Total Distance: 6.2 miles _ Out & Back

Time: 5 + hours. We will enjoy a leisurely 45 minute break at our destination for both lunch and pursuing our creative outlet of choice.

There will also be smaller breaks throughout.
