Join the Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians for a hands-on Dreamcatcher Cultural Class, open free to the public. This class offers participants an opportunity to learn about the cultural meaning, history, and symbolism behind dreamcatchers, as well as the traditional materials and techniques used in their creation.
Participants will learn:
The origins and cultural significance of dreamcatchers in Native communities
The meaning behind common symbols, shapes, and materials
How to properly weave and assemble a dreamcatcher using traditional methods
How dreamcatchers are used as cultural teachings and storytelling tools, not just decorative items
Each participant will create their own dreamcatcher to take home while gaining a deeper appreciation for Indigenous knowledge and craftsmanship. This class is designed for all ages and experience levels and emphasizes cultural respect, education, and creativity.
Registration is required.
Classes are free to the public, but space is limited. Once the class is full, registrants will be placed on a waitlist and notified if a space becomes available.
