📣 Goondiwindi Mental Health Professionals’ Network Meeting
🗓 Thursday 25 September 2025
🕠 1:00 pm
📍 Rural Sky, GMC House, 47 Bowen Street, Goondiwindi
Mental health professionals in the Goondiwindi region are warmly invited to attend our next Goondiwindi Mental Health Professionals’ Network (MHPN) meeting. This event will provide a valuable opportunity to connect, reflect, and explore multidisciplinary strategies for supporting clients with psychological injury.
🗣 Topic: Returning to Work with PTSD / Psychological Injury
Psychological injury in the workplace is on the rise. According to Safe Work Australia (2021), mental health conditions now account for a significant and growing portion of workers’ compensation claims. Yet navigating return-to-work pathways for clients with psychological trauma remains complex.
Together, we will examine a rich, real-world case study – Tracey, a 45-year-old community support worker who developed PTSD following a workplace-related transport accident . We’ll watch an MHPN panel webinar exploring the case from the perspective of a:
👩⚕️ General Practitioner
🧠 Psychologist
🛠 Occupational Therapist
Following the video, we’ll hold a group discussion about:
• Local services available to support clients like Tracey
• Best practice return-to-work strategies
• The challenges of capacity assessment and psychological recovery
📚 On the day, printed materials and links to additional resources will be available, including:
• Guidance on health and safety at work
• Tools for assessing capacity and workplace adjustment
• Supports for work participation and psychological recovery
👥 What is the Mental Health Professionals’ Network (MHPN)?
The MHPN is a national initiative that supports local multidisciplinary networks of mental health practitioners. Our Goondiwindi-based group brings together psychologists, social workers, GPs, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, counsellors, and other allied health professionals to build relationships, improve referral pathways, and share expertise in a supportive and informal setting. Whether you’re new to the region or a long-time local, you’re very welcome to attend.
The Goondiwindi MHPN is co-coordinated by Katherine Johnstone (Rural Sky) and Suzie Collins.
Please RSVP by 5:00 pm Monday 22 September to help us finalise catering numbers.
