Paddle the old ways. Reconnect to the canoe, the land, and each other.
Join Thrive Tours for a full-day, hands-on training and certification in what is now commonly called the Voyageur Canoe — a “Big Canoe” that has long carried the Anishinaabe across the waterways of Baawaating. Though the name “Voyageur Canoe” was introduced during the fur trade era, this vessel’s history is much older and deeply rooted in Indigenous knowledge and connection to the land.
This training is open to all, and no experience is needed. You’ll gain the skills and confidence to paddle safely as part of a crew, under the guidance of a trained Gouvernail, and receive your VC1 ORKA Certification.
