Join the Cathedral stonemasons this August Bank Holiday for a celebration of craft and skill at Gloucester Cathedral’s Stone Carving Festival, and see heritage in action. The festival will explore the poignant theme of "Peace and Remembrance," marking 80 years since VE Day.
Discover heritage in action and see masons chisel, carve and shape their creations over the course of the weekend. Enjoy live demonstrations and get hands-on with activities suitable for all ages.
Expect delicious offerings on the Cathedral Green from food vans including Box Kitchen, Smokingly Good BBQ, and Mumma’s Meals. While you’re there, why not enjoy a refreshing can of CathedrALE - our beer, brewed in collaboration with Gloucester Brewery.
Donations to the event are appreciated. All proceeds are going to the Cathedral's East Cloister Project which aims to protect and conserve the Cathedral's beautiful 14th century medieval Cloister.
Online Stone Auction - own a piece of living history!
The stones carved during the Festival are being auctioned online following the event, along with 12 historic stones which once formed part of the Cathedral! All proceeds from the auction will support The East Cloister Project, which is preserving one of the Cathedral’s most historically significant spaces.
Place your bid now! Bidding closes at 11pm on 2 September:
