We’re back at Glossop Labour Club on Thursday 9th October when we’ll be marking the 20th anniversary of Richard Hawley‘s modern classic, Coles Corner, which we’ll be playing on vinyl and in full.
Released in September 2005, it’s an album that builds on Hawley’s earlier solo efforts, mixing atmospheric country with epic strings, twangy guitars and classic songwriting, all shot through with a deep love of his hometown, Sheffield.
Our host, fellow Sheffielder Simon Galloway, will guide us through Hawley’s journey to this landmark album – from his early days with 80s indie hopefuls Treebound Story, to the Britpop highs of Longpigs, and his work as a collaborator and session player.
