The Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, Inc. (LHC) in conjunction with the Wind Hill Community Farm will sponsor their annual bird walk on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. The walk will start at the Town’s Longo Open Space parking lot off of Hebron Avenue. The walk will proceed through woodlands and hayfields and end at the Wind Hill Farm. Refreshments will greet the walkers at the end of the walk. Michael Corcoran, an accomplished birding expert and LHC President, will lead the walk. The length of the hike will be dependent on the weather and conditions.
In previous years, attendees have seen between 35-40 species of birds, with a good cross-section of local breeding species. Highlights have included Red-eyed, Warbling, and Blue-headed Vireos; Yellow, Chestnut-sided and Blue-wing Warblers; Baltimore and Orchard Orioles; Indigo Bunting; Field and Savannah Sparrows; and Bobolink.
Directions from Glastonbury Center: Navigate to 2954 Hebron Avenue ( one-tenth mile past Glastonbury Estates sign on right). Look for the sign on the right “Longo Farm Open Space” and drive into the small parking lot where the walk will start.
All LHC events are free and open to the public. Freewill donations are welcome as they will be used for further programming for both organizations.
