🍲 What You’ll Learn
🫘 Miso Making (Japanese Fermented Soybean Paste)
Learn how to make traditional Japanese miso using high-quality, domestically sourced ingredients, including pesticide-free soybeans. Miso is considered one of Japan’s most powerful and nourishing foods, and you’ll experience the full hands-on miso-making process.
After preparing your miso, you’ll take it home to ferment. In Okinawa’s climate, miso typically finishes fermenting in about 6 months, but it can continue to develop deeper flavor for up to one year.
🍚 Miso Soup & Steamed Rice
After making miso, we’ll enjoy a simple meal together featuring freshly made miso soup and Japanese rice. You’ll also learn basic tips for using your homemade miso in everyday cooking.
To support you through the fermentation process, we’ll create a group chat after the workshop and provide follow-up guidance for up to one year, until your miso is fully matured.
Each participant will take home approximately 2 kg of homemade miso.
If you would like to make additional miso, you may add more for ¥1,500 per additional kilogram.
For those who wish to make extra miso, we will provide dried soybeans in advance based on the amount requested. Please prepare (soak and cook) the dried soybeans at home before the workshop.
Details about containers will be shared with you via message.
As some of the ingredients are specially sourced from mainland Japan, please contact us by Tuesday, January 6 if you would like to request additional miso.
