GILBERT Shut Up & Write!® BARNES&NOBLE, Thursdays @ 5:30 PM In-Person

At Shut Up & Write, we’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers in a bookshop, with coffee, and an unbelievably inspiring setting. Be it a book, blog, script, poem, essay, dissertation, journal, resume, melody, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice unless you ask for it from one writer to another.
Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. Meeting with other writers keeps you accountable for doing the actual writing and you become part of a writing community. If this sounds “write" to you, meet us at 5:30 pm on Thursday evenings. We look forward to having you Shut Up & Write!

SCHEDULE:
5:30 -Introductions/Announcements. Author signings, book fairs, conventions and writing-related information,
5:45 -Timer starts: Shut Up & Write!
7:00ish - Writing ends: Optional writing exercise or discussion starts.
7:30 - Exercise ends, Socialising- Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.

BEING LATE IS OKAY: show up and get settled. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the bookshop's overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Please be sure your laptops are charged, as plugins are limited.

Other Important Details:
Our writing group is popular because of our passionate, engaged writers! We accept 20 writers each week via Meetup. If the group is full, you will be automatically put on the Waitlist, in order of the date and time you put yourself on the list. When someone moves themselves to “NOT GOING” the Meetup app automatically moves the next writer into the event. If you are “GOING” and decide not to show up, PLEASE move yourself to ”NOT GOING”, as soon as you know, so that those writers on the Waitlist may attend. If you forget to do so more than 2 times, you may be moved to the Waitlist for future events. Please be considerate to your fellow writers.

GUIDELINES: The Barnes & Noble Starbucks has graciously offered the reserved use of their area for our meetups! Please be courteous and thank our hosts by purchasing a drink, a food item, a book or more.
