About the event

The Evolving Legacy of Elizabeth Thorn
Please join Sue Boardman, author of Elizabeth Thorn: Wartime Caretaker of Gettysburg’s Evergreen Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery caretaker Brian Kennell, producer of the book Evergreen: A Gettysburg Tale as they discuss the changing perspectives on Elizabeth Thorn, who buried the first soldiers from the Battle of Gettysburg in the rocky region of Evergreen Cemetery. The program will include interesting facts about the Thorn family and the historic Evergreen Gatehouse, the development of the Gettysburg Civil War Women’s Memorial (dedicated in November 2002) and an inside look of the making of the children’s book, Evergreen: A Gettysburg Tale. Both authors will sign books that will be available for sale following the program.
