Presentation 1: Rise Together: The Power and Global Impact of Uplifting Women
This presentation explores the transformative impact of uplifting women across the globe. Drawing from personal experience, community work, and international advocacy, Sarwat Najib shares how empowering women leads to stronger families, more resilient communities, and sustainable social change. Through stories of resilience, creativity, and collaboration—from refugee women rebuilding their lives to grassroots movements in marginalized regions—this talk highlights why investing in women’s education, economic independence, and leadership is not only a moral responsibility, but also a powerful catalyst for global progress. Attendees will leave with a renewed understanding of the vital role women play in shaping a better, more inclusive world.
Presentation 2: Beyond Evacuation
Najib Azad will share his harrowing and heartwarming story of how he, his wife and four small children were forced, like his parents and grandparents before him, to seek refuge abroad after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021. The presentation will delve into the details of his book, “Beyond Evacuation: From The Himalayas To The Statue of Liberty.” Learn what it was like to immigrate to the United States and the challenges of knowing many are left behind in Afghanistan. Doors will open at 6pm before the program begins at 6:30pm. There will be tables featuring a showcase of Afghan clothing design and craftsmanship by Sarwat Najib, books for purchase by Najib Azad, information and merchandise for purchase from GCC, and more.
