Come join us for an unforgettable hands-on learning experience as we travel back in time at Button Farm Living History Center! This immersive farm tour brings history to life with interactive activities and historical demonstrations. The program lasts approximately 90 minutes and is designed for curious learners of all ages.
Students will experience our Beyond the Big House program. This specialized tour is not included in a normal general admission. It’s offered as part of their Guided Tours series where participants will identify and handle historic artifacts, tour our museum garden and meet our animals, and engage in light 19-century farm tasks such as grinding corn and hauling water. All of our programs are tailored to their audience and the students will also have an age-appropriate discussion of plantation life and the Underground Railroad. The program lasts 1.5-2hrs and includes time for a picnic lunch should you choose to bring one.
Leave No Trace: Feel free to bring a picnic lunch—you're welcome to enjoy it on the grounds after the tour! However, as a Leave-No-Trace site, there are no trash receptacles on the property. Please be prepared to pack out everything you bring in.
A 19th-century living‑history site with costumed interpreters, historic buildings, and activities that immerse students in early rural life—ideal for introducing how people lived in early America.
Button Farm is a 100% outdoor facility and programs will run rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Parking: Plenty of parking is available on-site and no fee will be charged (normally $10 plus entrance)
