Here are the details: On Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon El Dorado County will hold a free household hazardous waste collection event at Georgetown School, 6530 Wentworth Springs Road in Georgetown. There is a 15 gallon or 125 pound limit per household; business waste will not be accepted. For safety do not mix materials. Keep all waste in their original containers with lids on tight. If a container is leaking, place it in a sturdy plastic bag or bucket and label it. Transport waste in the rear of the vehicle or trunk of a car.
The following is not accepted: empty containers, tires, business waste, commercial AG chemicals, asbestos, radioactive waste, welding/oxygen cylinders, propane cylinders larger than five gallons, explosives, ammunition, dried paint, hardened concrete, large appliances and electronics such as freezers, refrigerators, stoves, air conditioners, washer/dryers
Accepted waste. Automotive: used oil/oil filter, batteries, antifreeze, gasoline, diesel, brake fluid; Backyard: pesticides/herbicides, fertilizers, pool/spa chemicals, charcoal lighter fluid/tiki oil, propane cylinders five gallons or smaller; House/garage: paint/paint thinner, drain cleaners, aerosol products, roof tar, kerosene, caulking, glues, batteries of all kinds, mercury thermostats/thermometers; Home generated: sharps (needles); Electronic waste: computers, printers, monitors, televisions, VCR's, DVD players, stereos, cell phones, fluorescent lamps (limit 10), miscellaneous small electronics and cables, microwaves.
