Join us for the closing drink of our current exhibitions with artist Anneke Eussen on Sunday, September 7, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
This date marks the closing of two exhibitions: ‘The Fifth Season / Anneke Eussen’ and ‘Wall Drawings / Derek Sullivan’.
Eussen is known for her wall sculptures made from recycled glass sourced from buildings, cars and other discarded structures. Preserving traces of their past — rust, dust, stains — she assembles these fragments into minimalist yet painterly compositions that evoke colourless flags, maps or borders. Her practice reflects on time, transformation and our relationship with built environments, drawing on both art historical references and a personal vision that seeks unity within fracture.
In this new selection of works, recovered shards and materials have guided Eussen’s actions, drawing attention to cracks and inconsistencies while addressing the impossibility of complete cohesion. Her practice engages with questions of ideology, belonging and visionary action — proposing art as a transcendent space, a “fifth season.”
This closing drink will also be the last opportunity to experience Sullivan’s ‘Wall Drawings’, a new body of work that explores the entanglements of place, memory, and perception through drawing and land-based installation. Developed in tandem with an evolving dry-stone wall constructed at his rural Ontario studio, Sullivan’s project considers orientation and the shifting ways we ground ourselves in landscape.
See you there!
