After a brief introduction to the geology, we will proceed to the spoil heaps for some fun fossicking to see what fossils we can find. Before leaving the quarry, we will drive a short distance round the edge of the quarry to see the section of the Moorabool River that has been diverted into a concrete channel.

LUNCH: 12.30-1.00pm
We will have our lunch at our afternoon stop, the Trust for Nature reserve at Dog Rocks, but there are no picnic tables, so please remember your chair/stool.

After lunch we will explore the granite and the granite weathering at the Dog Rocks and get a hilltop view of the major geological features of the area.

BRING: Clothing to suit all types of weather, binoculars, water, hat, chair, sunscreen, lunch, gloves and a small digging tool.
