He is a graduate of USAF Test Pilot School (Fixed Wing) and NATIONAL Test Pilot School (Rotary Wing), and from M.I.T. with degrees in Aerospace Engineering.
He is a fighter pilot and test pilot veteran (A-10, F-16) with 20 years of active duty in the US Air Force. In 2003, he was assigned as the first USAF Test Pilot on the F-35.
