“Picture Bride” 30th Anniversary Screening

Taking place on Sunday, Dec. 14 is the 30th anniversary benefit screening of “Picture Bride,” the critically acclaimed movie co-written and directed by Kayo Hatta and starring Youki Kudoh, left, and Tamlyn Tomita. It’s also a tribute to Hatta, whose career came to an untimely end in 2005. And, for fans of the legendary actor Toshiro Mifune, “Picture Bride” is one of his final movie appearances.

Doors open at 1 p.m. at the Gardena Cinema, 14948 Crenshaw Blvd. in Gardena. Tickets may be purchased in person or by visiting **GardenaCinema.com**. A portion of the net proceeds will be donated to Pacific Citizen newspaper.

Following the movie will be a panel discussion with “Picture Bride” producer Lisa Onodera, cinematographer Claudio Rocha and KPCC film critic Wade Major.
