About the event

CCMG education program and plant swap swap
Copiah County Master Gardeners are excited to host a September plant swap. We will be meeting at the Copiah County Extension office at the Gallman exit on interstate 55.

Visiting at 4:30, program starts at 5 pm, the plant trading starts at 6 PM.

SNACKS:
We will have a Snack Table and if you would like to bring a snack it would be appreciated but is not required.

WHAT TO BRING?
Potted plants, seeds, bulbs, and cuttings that you have rooted or that are easily rooted, or any plants that you have divided. Perennials, annuals, fruit and veggies are all perfect. It is ok to purchase plants that you find on sale but make sure they are in good shape. Please Do NOT bring plants in pots that are NOT FULLY ROOTED to ensure no one gets home with a plant that may not survive. No one wants to get home and find they have a stick in dirt or a droopy plant that was pulled from the yard before you came to the swap. Bring as many plants as you want to trade. Be sure they are labeled. Bring plants in the shape that you would be happy with taking home. Don't bring sick, diseased, or infested plants.
What to pot the plants in? Reuse the nursery pots you've got, a solo or foam cup will work too, or any pot you're willing to let them go with. Bonus with the cups is that you can Label directly on them! Don't expect that if you pot your swaps in a beautiful pot that you will also take home beautiful pots too it is luck of the draw!

LABELING:
Be sure to Label your plants. How to label? You can use tape, plastic utensils, broken blinds, etc. It is best to put the name of the plant as well as if it is Sun or Shade. If it is invasive please tell us or put it on the label too.

HOW SWAPPING WORKS?
We will be drawing numbers for "Shopping Order". We will start the rounds with picking one plant each in order starting with #1, then 2, 3,.. until everyone has had a chance to pick and then we will start another round. We may change the order and start with the last numbers. We may also be shopping in groups of 5 if we have lots of people come.
You can take home as many plants as you bring. If you bring 5 plants you will be guaranteed to take 5 plants home, but you maybe able to take home more than that as some of us will possibly bring more than we take. You would just pick through 5 rounds and then sit out until we open picking for everyone again.

WHO CAN COME:
Group Members, Family, and Friends are all welcome!

DIRECTIONS:
The Extension office for Copiah County is near the fairgrounds at the Gallman exit on interstate 55

Mark your calendars : We will continue to have a monthly education program every second Thursday between the hours of 5 and 7 PM. This will be in conjunction with something else. Could be a swap, a plant sale a business meeting, or a garden craft project.
