Stephen King’s heart-stopping thriller explodes on stage in a gripping clash of wills between a celebrated author and his “number one fan” September 12-21 at Prairie Players Civic Theatre.
This stage adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel, written by William Goldman and directed by Jaynee Bowker, follows acclaimed novelist Paul Sheldon (played by James Hutchings), who finds himself at the mercy of Annie Wilkes (Emily Trulson) after a car crash leaves him stranded in a remote cabin. At first, she appears to be a kind and devoted caretaker—but as Paul recovers, he realizes Annie has no intention of letting him leave. As he fights to survive her escalating obsession, local sheriff, Buster (Collin Sevigny), begins to suspect something isn’t right and sets out to uncover the truth. Tense, thrilling, and darkly compelling, Misery keeps audiences on the edge of their seats until the final, shocking moment.
