About the event

Gratiot’s Grove
Join us for an engaging talk by Cory Ritterbusch, restoration ecologist, landscape designer, planner, and former archivist for the Chicago Academy of Sciences.

This program explores the history of Gratiot’s Grove, a short-lived but significant early mining settlement located south of Shullsburg, Wisconsin. Though active for only a brief period, Gratiot’s Grove played an outsized role in the development of lead mining and frontier life in the Upper Mississippi Valley.
