Museum on Tap: Discovery of Planetary Radio Emissions

Just 10 miles from Gaithersburg, a field off River Road once held the world’s largest radio telescope and was the site of a groundbreaking discovery: planetary radio emissions. This discovery led to a new field of radio astronomy and opened a window into exploring the solar system and beyond. Today, the field is a popular destination for sunflower lovers during the summer and hunters in the fall. The speaker, Katie Rapp, is a communications and information specialist.
