Join The Flock for an Evening Owl Walk at La Chua Trail
📍 Meeting Point: La Chua Trail parking lot
⏱ Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
🌿 Trail Conditions: Very easy walk, open with little shade
💲 Parking: $4 per vehicle (QR code payment at entrance)
What to Expect:
Shorter days mean it’s time to go owling! We’ll gather at the La Chua Trail parking lot and make our way out to the boardwalk together. As dusk falls, we’ll wait and watch for owls emerging from the trees; great horned, barred, and barn owls often fly over the prairie and perch in full view. On our return walk to the parking lot, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for screech owls calling from the trees.
Please plan to arrive before dusk, as the entrance gate locks at that time (the gate will automatically let cars out afterward). Carpooling is encouraged, and you’re welcome to coordinate rides in the comments.
What to Bring:
• Bug spray
• Comfortable walking shoes
• Binoculars
Join us for an unforgettable evening of owling at one of Gainesville’s most iconic trails!
