The Writers Alliance of Gainesville will host an afternoon of readings of works published in the 2025 edition of their annual journal Bacopa Literary Review on Sunday, December 14th, from 2:30 to 4:30p.m. at the Millhopper Branch Library, 3145 NW 43rd St, in Gainesville.
The editors will read from and give brief remarks about the prizewinning and honorable mention pieces in each of the categories for this year’s edition of the international print journal. These are: fiction, creative nonfiction, formal poetry, free verse poetry, and visual poetry. Local authors whose work was selected for this year’s edition will also be featured.
Bacopa Literary Review is published by the Writers Alliance of Gainesville, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that promotes, encourages, and supports both aspiring and experienced regional writers.
Of over 1,000 pieces submitted for consideration in the journal, those published in this year’s edition of the journal were chosen blindly by editors with no knowledge or information about the writer. Included in this year’s edition are pieces by authors hailing from around Florida and all over the United States, as well as from various regions around the world.
The Writers Alliance will provide light refreshments, and a limited number of print copies of Bacopa 2025 will be available for free to WAG members. Information about Writers Alliance activities, membership benefits, and new-member signup forms will also be available. All are invited to come and enjoy an afternoon of literary talent. Attendance is free and open to the public.
The reading will also be available to attend online via Zoom. See
