ABOUT THE LOCATION
The airport has a long history, dating back to 1913 when it was a makeshift landing strip. It was officially established as a municipal airport in 1928. It also has a place in aviation history, having been a site for filming a portion of the Howard Hughes film Hell's Angels in 1929, and the departure and return point for a world flight endurance record set in 1949. The control tower, built in 1959, was the first in Orange County
