This September 11th, we pause to remember the 24th anniversary of a day that forever changed our nation — when 2,753 innocent lives were lost in New York City, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 in Shanksville, PA. We honor not only those who perished but also every service member and first responder who never returned home, sacrificing all for our freedom and safety.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TUS) stands as the ultimate symbol of sacrifice and mystery — a sacred monument honoring unidentified service members who gave their lives without recognition, embodying the countless heroes whose names we may never know but whose legacy lives on. It represents every fallen warrior who made the ultimate sacrifice, including those who perished on 9/11 and those who never returned from every conflict.
September 11th is Patriot Day, a day established by Congress for solemn remembrance and reflection. It is also recognized as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, transforming tragedy into unity through acts of service.
Additionally, the 9/11 Day organization was established to promote September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, encouraging participation in service projects nationwide and transforming a day of tragedy into one of community, compassion, and action.
On this sacred day, we call upon true patriots to join us at Arlington National Cemetery for a moving ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Here, history, sacrifice, and gratitude converge.
We are seeking:
2 volunteers to lay a wreath 🎗️ at the Tomb, honoring all unknown heroes and those who perished on 9/11.
12 volunteers to stand on the steps 🪖 as an honor guard, bearing witness with respect and humility.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. 🎖️
