Join us for a fun science lesson with Bill Seddon, Professor of Biology and STEM outreach coordinator at Frostburg State University.
We will meet at 8:45 at the Compton Science Center (by the bobcat statue) with a 9:00 am start. There will be a brief lesson on the Foucault Pendulum and then we will split into groups for three hands-on activities. We will break for lunch around noon, and conclude with a trip to the planetarium for a short film. We will depart for the day around 2 pm.
Although everyone is welcome,(including parents) this is best suited for ages 6-15. Ideally, we would like to have two groups, one group ages 6-11 and a second group ages 12-15. Bill will have a couple different levels of material to appeal to both age groups. And possibly information for the older kids on the university & what they have to offer as far as higher education opportunities.
Space is limited. There are 30 spots available for this class. Due to the amount of work that goes into putting this together, and to be respectful of the coordinators time, we are charging a REFUNDABLE fee of $5 per child. With that said, I know things come up. Life happens. The fee is refundable day-of, but only if you attend. Otherwise, it will be donated to a local organization of our choosing.
I know there is already a lot of interest in this event, and we don’t want to hold a spot for someone while others are on a waitlist.
You may drop your child’s names/ages here OR private message me. I will start a waitlist for a second class OR if someone happens to pay & then discovers they are unable to attend.
I accept Venmo, PayPal or cash app, and this is a first-come, first-served event. You are not registered until I receive payment.
We are SO excited for this event & cannot wait to see everyone!!
