Local walk leader Julie Williams will lead a guided walk exploring the rich lesser-known heritage that visibly envelops Froncysyllte (known as Fron). Along the route Julie will share stories of places, people and landmarks to give you a deeper insight into this community’s industrial heritage that encompasses tramways from the 1800s, the Llangollen canal and later railway. Social history for this small but mighty village includes winning Calor ‘Village of the Year’ which was awarded by King Charles lll in 2009 with a special visit to Fron. By the end of the walk you will have a deeper understanding of this beautiful waterway and hillside village that is built on a limestone outcrop.
The walk is free but will be bookable due to limited capacity

Come and discover the lesser known heritage and surrounding natural landscapes of Chirk, Trevor, Cefn Mawr and Froncysyllte that will be brought to life through community-led trails and the magic of storytelling.
These four historic villages and towns have their own special history and identities forged and preserved by the communities that live there. This special weekend of events will help you navigate through time across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site.
